Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

This curricular unit aims to be a learning place, regarding the understanding and production of texts. Since textual practice involves situations in which oral and written languages are used, the educational opportunities that are going to be created, through the understanding and production of different kinds of texts, promote the development of the communicative competences of students.

Teaching methodologies

• Classes of expositive nature.
• Practices of reading and analysis of model texts.
• Planning, production, revision and editing of texts.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The communicative needs verified in students and/or identified by them are the starting point for the development of analytical and synthesis skills, which promote their academic and professional success.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Continuous evaluation is based on the following:
• Participation in class activities – 5%
• Individual written test – 45%
• Written research paper in groups - 25%
• Oral presentation of the research paper - 25%

As an alternative to continuous evaluation, students can take a final exam (100%). At the beginning of the semester, students should contact the teacher in order to choose the evaluation modality. If a student chooses the final exam, he/she may, like all the other students, follow the class activities on Moodle.

Attendance system

Students should attend to at least 75% of classes.
